BarberEVO news + a thank you

No.86

Hey Reader,

After a 2 week break, I'm back with some big news that I've been lightly teasing over the last few newsletters.

I am a 2025 columnist for BarberEVO North America. If you pick up any of the 6 editions this year, you’ll see my featured column!

If you're not familiar, here's a quick BarberEVO intro:

BarberEVO sits at the top of the printed-publication game as the most sought-after barbering magazine in North America and throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Encapsulating the ever-growing and fast-paced barbering industry, we release bi-monthly editions which cover every barbering topic, issue, and discussion – upholding the fine traditions of the industry but creating space for the contemporary facets too (Source).

The first shop I worked at had BarberEVO magazines lying around. In between clients, I’d pick one up and read some columns in between clients. It was my first introduction to the larger industry.

If you told me that I'd be featured one day, I'd have laughed it off. But since those days cutting at the first shop after barber school, I’ve worn many hats within the industry: barber, consultant, educator, writer, podcast host, manager, director, shop owner and now featured columnist.

The more I think about it, the more I see a barber license as a passport. Granting entry into places we've never been. Collecting stamps along the way. My barber journey beyond barber school has evolved into this experiment. How many different doors can my barber license open? For me, it's been more than a few.

No matter where you are at in your career, I hope my story can serve as a small dose of inspiration that you might just end up doing far more than you could have even dreamed in this career. Who knew that saying yes to barber school would evolve into a yes to being a featured columnist?

Cheers to the unpredictable journey

P.S. If you've read this far, thank you. Thank you for subscribing and simply opening up these emails and reading to the end. It keeps me writing on days where I'm unsure if it matters.

BarberEVO NA Issue 41 (Feb/March) is out now

Do you want to be interviewed?

With 5 more BarberEVO columns to write this year, I'll be on the lookout to interview barbers on various business related topics. If you are interested in possibly having a quote featured in a column, please reply to this email with 'Interested'. After you reply, I'll add you to a separate email list.

Alright, finished with No.86. See you next week!
